A J-BAR PRAYER
Father, we come before you now on bended knee, hoping to honor you with our integrity. Please make our judgement as sound as steel and be our hands upon the wheel. Give us strength and vigilance on our routes and help us to serve others, as You did, Lord, without any doubts. Remind us to be gentle, humble and kind, and help us when we stumble in body and mind. Please shelter our families whilst we are away and bring us safely back to them at the end of this day.
The Key to Making a Difference
Jude 1:22 states “and of some have compassion, making a difference.”
Each and every one of us was uniquely created by God. There has never and will never be another “you” in all of time and space.
No one else has your experience, your knowledge, your emotion. No one else has your connection to the people in your life.
Family, friends, coworkers, people in your community are all uniquely influenced by you. Whatever else you may believe about why you exist, what your purpose is, or the meaning of your life there is one thing that is certain: we are here to make a difference.
Making a difference can manifest itself in many ways, but what it boils down to is using our unique knowledge, experience, and influence to bring the people and the world around us up just a little bit. To leave it better than it was when we found it.
The key to being successful in making a difference is found in Hebrews 3:13, where the Bible says “But exhort one another daily, while it is called Today.” Today is the key. No doubt there is much good that has been done to make a difference in time past, but that is over and gone and cannot be relived.
We may have many goals and ambitions to make a difference in the future, and that is good; we should plan, but tomorrow is not promised.
Today is the only resource we possess for certain to use to encourage someone who is struggling, to give to meet a need, to teach so that others may grow, and to affect possible change in the world in which we live.
Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today. Use this day to reach out, lift up, carry forward and make a difference.
