The J Bar Difference Series

Series note:

To provide some background information about our company and the great people who make up the J Bar team, we are outlining every aspect of J Bar Enterprises in the “J Bar Difference” series. This 10-part series will describe what sets us apart from others in the industry and give you insight into the workings of our company and the thoughts and processes of our employees.

With weekly articles and podcast episodes regarding a particular topic, we hope to inspire new visitors to explore the services we have to offer. If you already utilize our services, we hope this opens the door to things you may not have known about J Bar and encourages you to learn more. Whether you are just stopping by or interested in beginning services, let this series help you discover the J Bar Difference.

When someone is looking for a place of employment, the word “benefits” usually draws their attention. When job searching, we are all looking for a company that offers health, dental, and vision insurance, 401k, and PTO, so we can take care of ourselves and our families, take time for ourselves, and prepare for the future.

J Bar’s benefits go beyond healthcare and the other typical benefits. Different programs offered to our staff help each individual meet their basic needs as an employee and financial, emotional, and intellectual needs.

J Bar’s Chief Wellness Officer Tanis Jamar has spent the last 13 ½ years handling the business and accounting side of the company. Still, her history as a nurse also brought another element to her role that is a huge benefit to all of the employees under her care.

Counseling Services

One service offered to staff is something significant to the emotional needs of an individual. We are a diverse group of people with different backgrounds, different challenges, and a varying number of people to talk about our concerns with.

Many people hesitate to voice their concerns or bring up specific issues with their employer. They may feel unwelcome, think they would make their employer or coworker uncomfortable, or possibly be terminated because of whatever they are struggling with.

Having a counselor to hear what you have to say and help you work through different obstacles you encounter in life means a world of difference, especially to someone who might not have anyone at home to talk to or family members who don’t understand what they are going through. Our partnership with Infinite Agape Ministries in Marble Falls makes this counseling service possible for our staff.

Dream Manager™

Tanis recently introduced the Dream Manager™ to J Bar staff and invited those who have any type of dream to join the program. The dreams and goals of each staff member vary infinitely. From buying a new car to owning a home to venturing off to Santorini, Greece, or some other beautiful place, we all have goals we want to reach and may have never thought about how to get them or realized we needed them a plan at all.
The Dream Manager™ program is designed to help us come up with a game plan for reaching our goals and teach us about all developmental needs we may or may not be meeting to become the best version of ourselves.

Each month Tanis takes the time to sit down with each individual participating in the program to discuss each stage of the Dream Manager™ program, and to say it is enlightening is an understatement. Knowing what we need in life and what we need to do to get there and having someone to guide us through the whole process is something very special to each staff member.

SmartDollar

Everyone has heard of Dave Ramsey and his SmartDollar program. Ramsey has been the go-to financial guide for years now, and many people sign up for a subscription to his SmartDollar program, which features a step-by-step guide to financial peace. J Bar is kind and supportive enough to have signed up each staff member to the program for them to utilize and meet their financial goals.
So many people live paycheck-to-paycheck, and having a plan to get out of that rut is so beneficial, and we are blessed to have been given that opportunity by J Bar.

As J Bar’s wellness program evolves over time and new things are added to the mix, each level of the program is extremely beneficial to J Bar staff. To be able to have benefits centered around our own health and wellbeing – beyond just insurance – is motivating and inspiring to each member of the team and their families as well.

Health initiatives

Beyond those programs, health and fitness initiatives are in the works in an effort to help us be more mindful of how we take care of our physical selves.
This has already been taking form in our new facility, as we all now have a large kitchen space with the appliances and resources to make a nice healthy meal at breakfast or lunch. Tanis and all of J Bar want to see each staff member succeed in every aspect of their development, and we are blessed to have leadership so involved in every part of our health and wellbeing. Having these resources available to staff each day makes a difference in each person’s life.

For more information about our health and wellness programs and initiatives, check out our podcast episode corresponding to this article here. The podcast episode features an interview with CWO Tanis Jamar, as she outlines the benefits offered to her staff and the thought processes and experiences that have contributed to their development.

Savanna Gregg

My name is Savanna Gregg, and I have been blessed with the task of writing blog posts for J Bar! I’ve grown my love for writing since I was a kid, inspired by my grandpa and great-grandma, and encouraged by my family to follow this passion wherever it leads me. I found a love for journalism in high school and participated in UIL competitions throughout that time. I was able to expand that experience into a career, working for the Burnet Bulletin Newspaper for just over two years before finding a new opportunity here at J Bar. I’ve always loved spreading the news to my community through social media, and am so glad to have been given the opportunity to continue that while providing services for our customers at the same time. I hope you enjoy learning more about our company!
