Leadership is found throughout all J Bar employees, even those who don’t necessarily hold a “leadership” position. We are all responsible for the company’s success and ultimately its growth, as the two go hand in hand, and they both rely on the work and dedication of the individuals that make up the team.
The past year and a half have tested our team’s resilience and, in the process, made us stronger, as we all worked together to find ways to combat the coronavirus and its effects on our customers and community as a whole.
We were reminded of this resilience at a recent trip to the Global Leadership Summit in Austin, where our team members were able to hear various motivational speeches by different leaders who had overcome obstacles that only inspired them to persevere.
Being able to gather again to share the word of the Gospel and inspire others to lead themselves and their teams to greatness had a major impact on those attending and those speaking at the event. We left with minds full of knowledge and hearts full of inspiration to take what we learned back to the workplace and a little more insight into what leadership at J Bar already does to maintain its employees’ satisfaction.
These actions are taken at J Bar in our daily processes, leading to a positive work environment for employees and leadership alike. Going beyond just happiness in the workplace, Chief Wellness Officer Tanis Jamar’s focus at J Bar lies in the overall wellness of her employees, which starts with treating them like family.
“If you want to live out a core value like ‘Family,’ you have to shift your focus from viewing employees as an unavoidable liability to viewing them individually as literal members of your family,” Tanis said. “As a mother, part of me caring for my family is ensuring that they are healthy, not just that they are eating more fruit than fast food, but also that they are healthy as a whole person.”
This is especially important when you take into account today’s employment problem that is sweeping the country. Employees are unhappy with their place of work for a variety of reasons, so building your business on these values will create a sturdier foundation your employees can lean on, leading to a lower turnover rate throughout your company. J Bar is constantly finding creative ways to show respect for their employees, encourage growth throughout the team, and celebrate their wellness and successes.
“My role as CWO means that I am responsible for supporting the members of the J Bar family and ensuring that they have all the tools and resources at their disposal to be the healthiest version of themselves possible,” Tanis said. “This means providing opportunities to grow in their physical, emotional, spiritual, financial, and professional health. Currently, J Bar offers no-cost third-party counseling and SmartDollar personal finance training to all employees and their immediate families because everyone wins when a member of our team gets better.”
As more initiatives are put in place to motivate, inspire, and improve the health of their employees, Tanis and the leadership at J Bar are looking forward to the new opportunities to benefit the team as a whole further.
“I am so excited about the coming improvements and changes to J Bar’s wellness program in 2022,” Tanis said.
