Safety First: J Bar’s Safety-Mindedness starts in the workplace

This article is the fourth installment in our Securing Safety & Sanitation series! Stay tuned for more articles, videos, and social media posts about not only the importance of portable sanitation and safe work environments for our customers, but how we keep our staff safe at our facility and out in the field. At J Bar, safety is a top priority and along with our servicing procedures, many aspects of our work contribute to the health and safety of thousands of communities and families. This fourth installation in our Safety series describes measures we take and processes we have in place at our facility that ensure the safety of our staff members from the moment they enter the workplace.

At J Bar Enterprises, our commitment to safety isn’t just a motto – it’s a way of life. As the safety coordinator of this reable portable sanitation facility, I take immense pride in sharing how we prioritize the well-being of our dedicated staff members while also delivering top-notch service to our valued customers.

Walking the Talk in the Mechanics Shop

Safety begins on the shop floor. We’ve designated clearly ed walking areas in our mechanics shop, ensuring that employees can move about confidently without the risk of accidental collisions with machinery. This simple yet effective measure minimizes the potential for workplace accidents and keeps the workspace flowing smoothly.

On the Road, On Our Minds

The road can be unpredictable, but our drivers are equipped with more than just vehicles – they carry a sense of responsibility for their safety and the safety of others. Reminders strategically placed in our facilities serve as constant prompts for drivers to prioritize road safety practices, reinforcing the significance of cautious driving habits.

Welding with a Shield

Safety extends even to specialized tasks like welding. To protect both our workers and the environment, we’ve established a screened-off welding area in the mechanic’s shop. This measure contains sparks and fumes, ensuring that potentially hazardous situations are contained and the air remains clean.

A Refreshing Approach to Emergency Preparedness

Accidents happen, but being prepared is key. That’s why we’ve strategically placed two eye wash stations throughout our premises, ready to provide immediate relief in case of exposure to irritants. Additionally, our shower for emergency chemical spills is a testament to our proactive approach to handling unforeseen events.

A Clean Slate in the Wash Bay

Our wash bay isn’t just a place to clean equipment – it’s a demonstration of our commitment to organization and safety. Designated areas for chemicals and supplies prevent cross-contamination and the potential for mishandling, contributing to a safer and more efficient workspace.

Protective Gear, Protecting Our Team

Working with human waste is part of our daily routine, but it doesn’t mean we compromise on safety. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is readily available to all staff members. From gloves to suits, our team is shielded from potential health risks, enabling them to perform their tasks with confidence.

Drivers’ Haven

J Bar’s drivers are given access to a room with everything they need to keep them cool. We’ve stocked the fridge with popsicles, electrolyte drinks, water, and ice to ensure our drivers stay refreshed, hydrated, and energized. A well-rested and nourished driver is a safer driver, which ultimately benefits our customers as well.

Training & Safety Coordinator Joe Taylor prepares for a PPE demonstration for the team.

In essence, our focus on safety isn’t just about regulations – it’s about creating an environment where our staff can thrive without compromising their well-being. This dedication to safety reverberates through every facet of our operations, ensuring that the services we deliver to our customers are not only efficient but also backed by a team that’s confident, secure, and motivated.

So, the next time you see a J Bar Enterprises employee at work, know that behind the scenes, a culture of safety is at the forefront, driving our success and making a positive impact on everyone we serve.
